Chesil Beach Dorset England The South West Weymouth beach breakers sea seascape wave

Dad used to stay with his cousins in Weymouth. They sailed a lot, taking him with them and it was a short walk from the house to Chesil Beach. He would go out on his own with his paint box and work for hours not noticing how cold he got. Here his close observation of the pattern of waves is clear and he has managed to express the way they break and recede on this treacherous bank. A strong foundation for his later work.
