I must admit although I pride myself on a reasonably good knowledge of Modern British Art, I hadn’t heard of Richard Eurich until about 2 years ago when I saw one of his early paintings of Whitby at Jenna Burlingham's gallery. It was a striking piece that reminded me of Stanley Spencer's work. I was delighted to have the opportunity of acquiring the "Cucumber" painting at the recent auction - it’s a lovely jewel of a picture, dramatically lit and in my view one of his best still lives.
