1922
This sketch was found in a scrapbook RE compiled to show a selection of studies ". . . drawn before I went to the Slade School, London in 1924 - so they represent a cross section of what I was studying out of school up to the age of twenty one.".
Lanshawe Cottage was the name of the house where Richard lived with his parents in Ilkley, Yorkshire in the 1920s. When his parents became elderly they moved near to where Richard was living in the New Forest. They had a house built there and named it Lanshawe Cottage too.
