There was some uncertainty about whether this painting was done by RE, but a sketch has been found that clearly connects it to him. Some of the uncertainty came from the original title, "In the Lake District", a place he rarely visited. The inscription on the sketch, "Bolton Abbey", an area RE knew well, helped make everything fall into place. The sketch is shown below, and the painting has been renamed.
