Richard painted his best known version of The Mary Eliza, Lyme Regis (20 x 30 in) 1936. However his diary seems to say that there may be another smaller version:
"The ‘Mary Eliza’ from Hull. Made slight drawings of her. Wind very cold from the east, but a glorious cloudless day, but not clear. In the afternoon started a painting of her (16x20)"
