Dorset England The South West West Bay berthed buidlings fields hanging washing harbour hills mast picket fence skylight townRE’s sales diary records that Dudley Tooth, head of Arthur Tooth & Sons Gallery in London, bought “The Red Tanker” directly from the 1938 Redfern show as part of a negotiated deal: - "Low Tide, Porthleven" priced at 100 guineas plus “The Red Tanker" priced at 35 guineas, together for £100 - two for less than the catalogue price of one! Tooth's later sold "Low Tide, Porthleven" on to National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) in 1946. There is no trail we know of for finding "The Red Tanker".

The long ‘Porthleven’ and ‘Venus’ at West Bay was sold for £100 to Dudley Tooth.
