A few years before Dad painted this picture, the family’s beloved Dalmatian dog Grock died and after a while, we bought Star. He was a bit more difficult. He would run off if we turned our backs and once even got on a bus and then the ferry over to Southampton before someone noticed him and rang us. But he was also quite a character. When we let him in he would sniff round the room and always find the bear.
