This tiny little painting says more than its size would suggest. Behind Richard's work was the knowledge of love for his family, and a sense of home. This love included all the family pets over the years, and here we have an image of one of his Grandsons, Rupert, with his beloved cat Hurry, depicting that special relationship between a boy and his feline friend. The animals that inhabit our lives crop up regularly in his work, always with a tenderness and sometimes humour that most of us relate to.
