This drawing has recently been known as "Girl on a Terrace", but in 1983 it was shown as 'The Garden' at the 'Eurich at 80' exhibition at The Fine Art Society. It belonged to the artist at the time.

We are thinking that this work might be the same drawing listed as "The Garden" [Cat 38] in Richard's first one man show at the Goupil Gallery in 1929. That picture, however, was sold from the Goupil show according to Richard's sales diary.

Nevertheless, the coincidence is very high so for now we are going consider both listings as being the same work, and hope we either find some evidence of the work coming back into Richard's possession or of there being two distinct works with the same title.
