A little while after the piece was published he bumped by chance into Tonks, his old teacher at the Slade. Tonks had read the article and declared indirectly he had been a bit hurt by it. Richard explained that it was "A typically foolish remark which students who are trying their wings like to make." Tonks seemed to accept that.
