This beautiful little painting with its expressive dispersal of trees and grazing horses, its distant patchwork of fields touched in with such calm authority, its far habitations, its characteristic mixture of nature and cultivation and its sky, a very typical English cloudy blue, is a perfect and timeless statement about our countryside.
