Interiors Portraits Works | 1940 to 1949 Richard Eurich (1903-1992) Visionary Artist The Art of Richard Eurich Families
In his diary Richard describes painting this portrait.
His parents had come to live close to him and Mavis in their village in the New Forest. During the sitting his mother kept absolutely motionless while he painted, even when a German plane overhead was shot down and they could see clearly through the window it starting to lose height and veer towards the Isle of Wight.
His father bought the picture but at first was not particularly happy that she was depicted busily knitting. Richard was pleased with it and said it was an excellent likeness.
