Richard included bait diggers as a main subject or tiny in the background in dozens of works.
This small panoramic view contains Dad’s tried and tested ingredients of sky, sea and beach at Lepe, but he is aiming for an ‘emptier’ scene. The juicy paint of the orange strip of beach and the breakwaters starts to ‘evaporate’ into the calmer sea and sky beyond. Very satisfying somehow.
