Ice Skating

1928

When the owner of this work recently (2018) took it out of its frame, he found a drawing of a man's head on the back. See below. It is likely that the drawing of the head was done in a life drawing class when RE was at the Slade. He probably used the other side later for the skating drawing to save a little money when things were tight in the time before his success with the 1929 one man show at the Goupil Gallery.
