In 2016/17 they were invited to be part of 'Tell Her Story', supported by Creative Darlington. Curated by Michaela Wetherell, paintings from the Darlington Borough Council's collection of unknown women, some of which were by unknown artists were selected, and Vane Women were asked to look at the works to create their own writing.
S.J. Litherland, a founding member of Vane Women, wrote this poem in response to 'Lady with a Bird'.
This is one of the drawings from RE's first solo show, at the Goupil Gallery in London in 1929. Catalogue no.14.
"... I arrived back in London in the autumn, and as a final fling drew two large drawings, one of them must have been about four feet high, a single figure of a woman ..."
