Sunrise, Frosty Morning

1979

In this joyous little painting description gives way to evocation and yet it is still quite clear what we are looking at: an early morning meeting of dog walkers on a crisp winter’s day. The loose, almost scratchy mark-making and dabbed paint hardly covers the wooden support in some places, but Eurich makes good use of the dark tan ground to unify the picture and build up from it to the white of frost on roofs and grass.
