On the Beach

1972

The Beach is Dad’s much-loved local Lepe Beach just a short drive from home in the New Forest. I think the sea is particularly beautifully painted, with the hills of the Isle of Wight beyond. A steamer on its way from Southampton is passing along the Solent. I love the way the pale human figures thread across the narrow band of the dark beach at low tide.
