England Hampshire Lepe Beach The South bait diggers hills low tide moored mud flats sail boat

Low tide always seemed to bring the Isle of Wight closer to the mainland, but this is the closest yet! Its a gentle summer day but this is the hour for bait diggers, not tourists. The single white boat glimmers in the calm scene.

REP / PB

Richard included bait diggers as a main subject or tiny in the foreground or background in dozens of works.
