RE Diary Entry - 11th February 1948: “In the evening thought quite suddenly of another vision of childhood picture, sailing fireboats (paper) down a tunnel. Bradford Back perhaps. Boys watching them and gasworks etc coming up over the top of the coping – a good subject I think.”

Originally bought by a collector from the Redfern's small panels show, but later exchanged for "The Shower Bath" from the same show. RE then gave "Paper Boats" to Martin Vincent, a member of the extended family on his wife's side.
