Snow on the Grazing Strip

1979

The snow would linger on this open area of grass at the top of our road in Dibden Purlieu, long after it had disappeared from the trees. Dad has taken some liberties with the landscape on the other side of the fence which really was just a plantation of firs…. He has made it appear more varied. I like the figure and the pony watching each other warily. The person is trying to approach the pony but will not be able to get much closer before it will amble off. The ponies are not sociable creatures. The V of birds …

Dad has taken some liberties with the landscape on the other side of the fence which really was just a plantation of firs…. He has made it appear more varied. I like the figure and the pony watching each other warily. The person is trying to approach the pony but will not be able to get much closer before it will amble off. The ponies are not sociable creatures. The V of birds flying across the sky seems to add to the feeling of spaciousness.
