Dorset England The South West Weymouth beach choppy sea dark grey sky dramatic sky storm clouds wavesWeather is here the main subject! The lighting is quite dramatic with the stormy clouds overhead and the rays of sun striking occasionally on a distant spot on the sea and lighting up the shingle bank in the foreground. The viewpoint is unusually low for Dad’s style. We can’t even see over the bank to where the waves are undoubtedly crashing on the beach. Only further along on the right do we see the turmoil of foam against the contrasting black landscape. And what a cloudscape!
Richard was a regular visitor to Weymouth, staying with relatives there. So it is not surprising that there are a few of his paintings titled 'Weymouth Bay'.
Our apologies if any of the details have got mixed up between them. Let us know.
