Works | 1970 to 1979 Seascapes | Coastal Scenes Panoramas The Art of Richard Eurich Lepe Beach and The Solent Figures on a Beach
It is interesting to compare this picture with Evening, Lepe (1971) where the colours of the figures caught in the setting sun’s brilliance is again caught. It is low tide again but there the resemblance ends. This is made more dramatic by Dad’s adoption of a panoramic view so that the orange of the shingle promontory (which disappears at high tide) shoots right across the vivid blue of the sea. The foreground has already lost the sun’s rays. The land just visible in the distance will be the curve of the coast towards Lee on Solent and Gosport.
