Stormy Evening, Lepe

1976

This evening scene feels very spontaneous almost as though Dad were painting there on the beach. However, he will have memorised the effect and gone home to paint it next day. The colour of the red sail is wonderful in front of the purples and yellows of the sky. The silhouetted people look as if they have grown out of the dark beach.
