The lower half is busy with narrative and a lively textured sea. The comparative emptiness of the upper half allows the tanker to rise majestically against a calm blue sky. There are several pictures within the picture. Groups of people disport themselves and Richard has included some of his favourite motifs like the bending figure, an umbrella and a towel.
